Khalid surprises Socorro students with presents

The holiday season just got a little bit “better” for some local students thanks to a surprise visit by El Paso’s Khalid.

The R&B star visited Socorro’s Ernesto Serna School on Thursday to distribute gifts to its students.

“I feel like it’s super special to give back, especially to El Paso, because I’m not here as often as I’d like to be,” Khalid said.

At the event, the singer presented each student with a wrapped gift followed by a hug.

“I just love how he came from here…he’s amazing,” 8th grader Aaron Griego said with tears in his eyes. “I just think he’s a really good person.”

Khalid began the gift-giving tradition at Ernesto Serna last year.

“El Paso gives me so much love, so why not give love back to El Paso,” he said.
