Catholic School Week kicks off in El Paso

A big trip kicks off Catholic School Week 2019 here in the Borderland.

On Friday, January 25, at 9 a.m., everyone from St. Patrick Cathedral School will ride El Paso’s streetcars in honor of the celebrations.

This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” The national celebration focuses on the value Catholic education provides to young people, local communities, and the nation.

Students, staff, and teachers will also spend the week with masses, open houses, and other activities. The community is also invited to part-take in the celebration.

This year, the school chose to celebrate El Paso and said the streetcars are a great way to do that especially for those looking for adventure.

“I feel like it’d be really cool just seeing some stuff that maybe I haven’t seen before. Yes, sometimes I do go downtown but maybe the trolly will take me somewhere that I’ve never seen before,” said Marian Montoya, a student at St. Patrick Cathedral School.

Remember, Catholic Schools Week 2019 kicks off today and continues next week on Monday through Friday. The events opened to the public are:

  • Sunday, January 27, at 10 a.m. a mass at St. Patrick Cathedral
  • Wednesday, January 30, at 8:30 a.m. a mass at St. Patrick Cathedral
  • Thursday, January 31, at 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. an open house.
