Star volunteer fosters more than 200 shelter animals in six years

Gabrielle Stark’s love for animals is quite apparent.

“Well they are so cute, and lovely,” Sparks tells KTSM.

The foster mom has taken care of a total of 262 animals since she began fostering six years ago.

“I have four dogs, but sometimes…I have 20 dogs in the house,” she said.

Puppies and kittens who are too small to be adopted are usually given to foster parents until they’re ready to be given to a loving family.

“Sometimes it’s really sad, but when people send you pictures of how big they are and how healthy, you know you did that and the family’s happy and they have a great pet,” Sparks said.

KTSM, along with other NBC and Telemundo stations across the country, are partnering up with local animal shelters for Saturday’s Clear the Shelter adoption event.
