Local animal shelters offer free, discounted pet adoptions for ‘Clear the Shelters’ event

Clear the Shelters

Local animal shelters across the Borderland are getting ready for one of the biggest adoption events of the year, NBC’s national “Clear the Shelters” initiative. KTSM is one of several NBC affiliates joining in on the event.

The El Paso Animal Services Center, Animal Rescue League of El Paso, Humane Society of El Paso and the Animal Services Center of Mesilla Valley are taking part.

Ramon Herrera, spokesperson for the El Paso Animal Services Center, said summer is one of the shelter’s busiest time periods.

Herrera said this event helps the shelter reach its ultimate goal — becoming a no-kill shelter.

The shelter will offer FREE adoptions all day Saturday as part of the event. Free adoption goodie bags will also be given to the first 50 adopting families.

The Humane Society of El Paso is also offering $50 adoptions for all dogs, cats, and kittens over four months of age.

The KTSM team will be at the El Paso Animal Services Center and the Humane Society of El Paso from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to help Clear the Shelters!
