Sam Guzman became the Weekend Sports Anchor and Weekday Sports Reporter at KTSM in April of 2022. His move into the sports department came after he took on the role of producer for KTSM 9 News Today from October of 2020.
Already in his time in the sports department, Sam has covered a lot of exciting stories when it comes to sports in the Borderland including the 2021 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl; Americas High School Softball’s State Tournament appearance; Ivan Melendez’s historic 2022 season and MLB Draft selection; and boxer Jennifer Han’s return to the ring as she prepared for two world championship bouts.
Sam was born in Aurora, Colo., but moved to El Paso at a very young age. While Sam does say he is from Colorado, he calls the Sun City “home” as he has lived in El Paso for most of his life. The El Dorado High School graduate attended Full Sail University and graduated in 2020.
After graduating college, Sam returned to El Paso to work as a producer for KTSM 9 News as his first gig in the television business. After working behind the scenes for more than a year, Sam got his first opportunity to work in sports full-time in April of 2022.
Sam loves El Paso because this is where he grew up. In his free time, he loves to box, play video games, travel to different places, and watch movies.
