Karla Draksler is a Multimedia Journalist for KTSM 9 News.
Draksler was born and raised in Croatia, until she met her husband and moved to Germany, and after, to the U.S.
She started her college education majoring in journalism at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Zagreb.
After moving to El Paso in 2019, she continued her journalism studies at New Mexico State University where she is projected to graduate in December of 2021.
She has always had a passion for story-telling in video format and wanted to start off as a film director but had discovered her love for journalism in high school.
Once at NMSU, Draksler started volunteering at News22, a student-produced newscast where she was introduced to the excitement of broadcast journalism.
She started out as an intern at KTSM during the summer of 2020 and shortly after joined the team as the morning reporter for KTSM 9 News.
She loves talking to people and believes that everyone has a story waiting to be told.
She has a shar-pei mix dog named Hagrid who loves to watch her edit stories and sometimes put his paws on her laptop. If you notice any mistakes on-screen, all complaints go to Hagrid, who has his own Instagram account.
His pitbull-shar-pei mix sister Tonks, also contributes to the occasional shenanigans.
Draksler belongs to the wizarding world of Harry Potter but has learned to interact with and disguise herself as a muggle too.
