Weather looks interesting this week with a series of upper level troughs (low pressure systems) bringing blasts of Autumn like temperatures. Our first trough actually rolled in last night and today and has brought some of the coolest air of the season to the Borderland. Temps today will struggle to cross the 60 degree threshold and will be the coldest highs we've seen since March 27th, where the high in El Paso only made it to 57 degrees. Typically this time of year temps are usually right around 74 degrees for daytime maximums. Seasonally warm weather returns tomorrow after a cold night tonight. Some areas overnight tonight may drop to near freezing, especially in areas outside of El Paso and Las Cruces. A check of computer models shows another stronger trough/cut-off low pressure system moving across the Southwestern U.S. Wednesday and Thursday. Ahead of this storm expect rather strong winds and warming temperatures. Temperatures come crashing again late Wednesday as a strong Pacific front slices through the three state area. Rain will be possible Wednesday, Wednesday night, and early Thursday. Area mountains will likely see some snow, with predicted snow levels as low as 7000 feet. We'll see cold weather into Thursday with likely our coldest night of the season Thursday night. Friday looks cool and sunny with excellent weather for the upcoming Halloween on Saturday.
