September Is Typically Our Third Wettest Month Of The Year

September is typically our third wettest month in El Paso and it looks like we have a decent chance of reaching that mark. The Climate Prediction Center is expecting our part of the nation to see near normal precipitation. Now this isn't a guarantee, but if the forecast holds, we'll pick up some much needed rain. Much of the nation will see near normal precip for the month. This is great news for drought stricken South Texas, which desperately needs rain. The driest region will likely be Northern California and Oregon through the month, with above normal rain totals expected for much of Florida. Out immediate outlook for rain is growing brighter as an upper level trough and a slug of tropical moisture (some of which will come from Hurricane Jimena) is expected to surge through the region during the Labor Day holiday weekend
