Labor Day Weekend Weather
Big holiday coming up, how's the weekend shaping up? Several ingredients in place that could bring us rain into the weekend. The main thing working against us is a mid/upper level ridge of High pressure which is wobbling over the southwestern U.S. High pressure tends to have sinking air, therefore suppressing cloud development, therefore keeping storms at bay. However we have several troughs (areas of low pressure) at the surface near the area Borderland. Plus there is tropical moisture which will enhance rain chances. What does this all mean? Just hit or miss storms today and for the holiday weekend. Rain chances will be best later today and Sunday. Though we will still see isolated storms Saturday and on Monday (Labor Day). Spotty storms Tuesday and Wednesday next week. By Thursday a cool front will slide into the region, enhancing rain chances once again by the middle to end of next week.
Labor Day weather looks busy across Florida, with bouts of heavy rain. A few clouds but nice weather for New England and the Northeast U.S. Most of the Midwest looks very nice on the holiday. Warming weather across the plains with showers for the Pacific Northwest. Still warm in California with a little haze near L.A. Spot showers in and around Memphis, Little Rock, Texarkana, and into Houston on Labor day. Dallas should stay dry along with most of north Texas. Maybe a spot storms for folks in Central, South and Southwest Texas; including Austin and San Antonio. Along with isolated monsoon driven storms here in El Paso, Las Cruces, and up toward Albuquerque, and west to Tucson and Phoenix. Should be rather warm across the Southwest U.S., despite the clouds and rain threats. Have a great and safe holiday everyone!
