December Level Temperatures in October
October 29, 2009 - 8:45am

Believe it or not, it's going to be colder tonight! After morning temperatures that dropped into the 20s and 30s this morning, expect a widespread freeze for the Borderland tonight. Freeze Warnings are posted for the Texas counties of the viewing area along with Otero County for 3 AM to 10 AM Friday. Most of the rest of New Mexico has already seen freezing temps and will see them again tonight.

Heavy potentially flooding rains in the Midwest is accompanying the storm that swung through here yesterday. Several feet of snow as well as fallen in Colorado. Locally, yesterday morning at 5 am it was 62 degrees in El Paso... by 10 PM last night it was 37 degrees. A rare day when the high temperature occured early in the morning with the daytime low later that evening. Reports of snow in parts of the Borderland, including up in Cloudcroft (a photo you can see below), Silver City, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and in and around Ruidoso.

We even had some light snow and sleet reports in El Paso. The above photo was taken by one of my coworkers here at KTSM-TV, Gabe Medrano from NE El Paso.
