Rain chances increase today through Monday

Sunday, October 19, 2014 - 9:06pm

Update: 9:02p.m.

Strong storms made their way through the city of El Paso and Las Cruces.

Las Cruces wasn't impacted as much as El Paso, only because the line of storms that tracked through our area were weaker by the Mesilla Valley.

There is plenty of moisture from where the storm system can develop from and that is exactly what is happening right now.

The stronger part of the storm is finally over but Moderate rainfall will continue to fall in our are until 11:00p.m. Sunday.

Hail was reported in NE El Paso and West El Paso from these passing storms. Flooding was also an issue in NE El Paso and parts of Downtown.

El Paso Electric reported 1300 customers scattered throughout service territory were without power due to weather related events. Be Careful tonight.

Expect more Morning rain Monday, with more storms developing in the afternoon and in the evening.

We can expect thunderstorms later in the evening with overnight rain on Tuesday.

Stay safe!

*****************************************************************************************************

We woke up to the loud sound of thunder this morning, and the same is expected to happen Monday.

There is a low pressure system is slowly tracking our way from Baja California. This will generate isolated to scattered showers throughout the borderland Sunday through Wednesday.

Our best rain chances will be in the evening into the Monday morning hours.

Models are indicating that this low pressure system will weaken Tuesday, but an upper wave will push more moisture into the region on Wednesday and that should increase our rain chances once again.

By Thursday we are expecting to dry out and heat up.

Keep in mind that the abundant cloud cover over our area will keep us on the cooler side of things, giving us highs in the 70's.

By Thursday through the coming weekend, we should expect those highs to jump to the 80's.

Breezy conditions will exist Sunday through Wednesday as that low pressure system rides across the area.

Great fall like weather!
