06z Microcast Temp Prediction for Wednesday Afternoon
A bit of an up and down week ahead for the Borderland. Big winds yesterday and today kick off this second week of May. We clocked wind gusts of 49 miles per hour yesterday at the El Paso International Airport. More of the same for this afternoon before a Pacific cold front slips into the region tonight and tomorrow. Temperatures will be cooler starting Wednesday, which can be seen by our Microcast temperature computer model image shown above. Tomorrow will also be breezy with calm weather for Thursday. For Friday and Saturday we may be able to squeeze out a few showers or thunderstorms. The dry line, dividing line between moist and dry air, will slide westward from Central and West Texas into our region. At the same time, an upper level weather disturbance may provide enough lift to spark off afternoon thunderstorms. Widespread rains are not expected. By the end of the weekend warmer temperatures and dry weather returns to the area. Beyond this, a storm in the Tuesday - Thursday time frame next week may provide for more wind or rain in the region. More on that storm later.
