Weather records fell across the Borderlands this past weekend. In El Paso, the Saturday record high of 105 was eclipsed by a degree, 106 specifically, during the afternoon hours. Yesterday's record high was smashed when the mercury soared to 110 for the first time in 16 years. The old record was 105 as well. This extreme heat, which looks to continue for a few more days (through at least Thursday), was interrupted by hefty and at times severe thunderstorms yesterday afternoon. Reports of hail, winds, blowing dust, along with moderate rains were felt in Hudspeth, East and Northeast El Paso, and Otero Counties. A wind gust was clocked at 58 miles per hour in Central/East El Paso. Stronger wind gusts of 82 miles per hour were reported in NE El Paso. Below we've got several images sent in by viewers.
