I hope Mexican authorities really are making progress with this and not just snatching up random people and billing them as hitmen just to look good.

I'm glad Sheriff Wiles acknowledged this as spillover violence from across the border. The problem is, he seems to have insinuated that only those who are targeted will be the ones to get killed.

In Juarez, this might not have been the case because I'm sure in most cases sicarios have killed innocent people who witnessed a hit, not to mention those who get caught in the crossfire or take stray bullets. I firmly believe that if Saucedo and his family lived in Juarez, they all would've been killed on the spot. However, this being American soil, the hitmen were smart enough to drag him over to Juarez and get the job done in the one place they know they'll most likely get away with it, because like them, they know American law enforcement don't play games, a prime example being the capture and arrest of the individuals who shot that alleged Juarez Cartel Lieutenant in East El Paso a while back.

This unfortunate event is further testament that the violence from Juarez has spilled over and may likely continue to do so. In my opinion, the spillover may have already happened long before we all first heard about Gonzalez Galeana getting killed on the east side, and authorities will keep quiet on such events as to avoid a panic.

SwtGzus's comment may have been unintentionally misleading. I state that because at times I'll be doing up to 65 on I-10 and will have to switch over to the left to pass a row of several cars traveling slower, and during that time, some speed demon ends up right on my tail and that can get frustrating. I bet you didn't see it from that angle now, did you? Getting educated also involves thinking outside the box ;) I'm sure SwtGzus is smarter than you think.

10 things that bug me (in no particular order of importance):

    1. Drivers who rev their engines at me on the road just because I drive a lightly modified import. Eventually they don't watch the news.

    2. Obnoxious teenagers at the movies just begging for attention. Relax, we know you're there.

    3. The extremely loud exhaust on my neighbor's Harley. Every night at around 11, he takes off hard. It's nobody else's fault you either like to party or have to work a graveyard shift.

    4. Drivers who don't signal their lane changes. I'd need more fingers on my hands to count the number of times I've almost been sideswiped.

    5. Healthy, able people in my building who take the elevator up or down just one floor. I guess two flights of stairs is too much nowadays.

    6. Every radio and TV commercial from the Borman Autoplex and Shamaley Ford. Stop killing classic songs and ripping off Ford F-150 commercials. Be original!

    7. The exuberant and excessive usage of auto-tune voice manipulation in rap music. Nobody will ever do it like Roger Troutman and his talkbox.

    8. The illegible mini-doppler map that some TV stations display during weather alerts. It gets in the way, as opposed to a simple ticker.

    9. The utter lack of moderation on Topix.net. The El Paso Times really needs to control what kind of comments get posted about their stories. Some people are just out to raise hell and they're getting exactly what they want.

    10. One of my co-workers who has a very annoying habit of sneaking up behind people in their cubicles to startle them. It wasn't even funny the first time, homeboy.

Some of these may seem silly to some people, and about number 9: I'll be totally real and admit that I have, at times, given in to others' immature comments and have posted some inane posts of my own in response. I end up pulling a Joe Wilson. Ha!

The kids are not gonna care. I haven't forgotten how as a teenager, I thought I was invincible, how the world was in my hands, and how I thought I knew it all. My only concern back in my high school days was homework, girls, following trends, and of course, partying. That's all the majority of kids would rather worry about now and sadly, they always have to learn the hard way because the "it-can't-happen-to-me" attitude is all too prominent within the youth. It's not until they hear that dreadful announcement by the principal over the school intercom on a Monday morning and find their friends featured on mydeathspace.com that they realize the severity of certain consequences to certain decisions. Buy hey, let kids be kids; if you play with fire...
