September unemployment numbers fell below 8 percent for the first time in nearly four years, according to a report released by the Labor Department Friday.

The number of people without jobs nationally is 7.8 percent marking the first time in Obama's Presidency the rate fell below 8 percent.

"They are what they are and I believe the numbers are correct," said El Pasoan Memo Medina.

The Labor Department said employers added 114,000 jobs in September and 873,000 people found jobs.

The numbers have already been playing a role in the campaigns for President Obama and Mitt Romney.

"We have made too much progress to return to the policies that have led to the crisis in the first place." Obama said. "I can't allow that to happen."

Mitt Romney has continued arguing the economic recovery is too slow.

"I have a detailed plan to create 12 million new jobs," said Romney in a political advertisement.

Before El Pasoan Gonzalo Caballero is convinced of the economy recovering he hopes to land a new job.

"I just recently left my job so until I get a job I think it's going to be the same cause it was really hard to get a job in the first place," Caballero said.
