They boy's father, 23-year-old Jeffrey C. Putnam, is charged with intentional child abuse.

The child's mother, 28-year-old Melissa Lopez-Putnam, is facing one charge of negligent child abuse.

Tuesday night Putnam hit the boy with his fist and put his foot on his head, according to Las Cruces Police.

Police say Lopez-Putnam knew about the abuse, but didn't tell authorities.

I'm glad they are going to jail, I hope that New Mexico law is too lean on them... I hope they get the same in jail as well. "What a man" doing stuff like that to a lil boy. Sure he would've gotten beaten down if he tried doing that to another man.

Its a shame to see or even hear about abusive parents, and whats worse is that the mother did nothing about it as for the father well cant really say what i want to. Good to here the children are safe though. God bless them and even the parents may he forgive what they have done.
