South El Paso-  Police are investigating a suspicious death in South El Paso.

A spokesman for the department says officers arrived on scene last night around 7:15 p.m. where they found a man dead in an apartment on the 400 block of Tays.

No information has been released yet on the victim's identity.

First responders quickly ruled out natural causes for the death, prompting a call to the El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons unit.

They are the unit handling the investigation right now.

Police also told NewsChannel 9 a man has been detained for questioning.  No information has been provided about who he is.

The spokesman was quick to say there doesn't appear to be any drug cartel or gang involvement in the death, although no reason was given for that statement.

If the death does turn out to be a homicide, it will be El Paso's second murder this year.
