Sunland Park Officials Indicted on Extortion Charges

SUNLAND PARK, N.M. - A grand jury has indicted the City of Sunland Park's mayoral elect and city manager on extortion and tampering with evidence charges Thursday.
Daniel Salinas and Jaime Aguilera were indicted in relation to the sex tape recorded of Salinas' former opponent, Gerardo Hernandez.
They each face four counts of extortion and conspiracy to commit extortion, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.
Salinas was elected Sunland Park's new mayor in Tuesday's election. Salinas told News Channel 9 he had expected to be sworn in as mayor as early as Friday.
