El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso will have another strong representation in Mexico City for the Mexico Women's U-20 National Team tryouts. That is because Jenny Chiu and Emily Alvarado were invited once again and both have hopes of making the roster for the U20 World Cup this August in Canda.
Chiu was a standout forward at Franklin High School and is currently on athletic scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Chiu was the captain of the U-17 Mexico W.N.T and played in the 2012 U17 World Cup in Azerbaijan.
Alvarado just finished her sophomore year at Coronado and was the starting keeper for the U-17 Mexico W.N.T. in both the 2014 U17 Women's CONCACAF and U-17 Women's World Cup.
The tryouts will run until July 3rd when the final roster is named. The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup starts August 5th.
