Half the semi-final field is set at the World cup; it will be Brazil against Germany on Tuesday.

Germany shut down France 1-0 while Brazil hung on against Colombia 2-1.

The host nation got a quick goal in the 7th minute when Neymar delivered a corner kick that Captain Thiago Silva tapped in for a 1-0 lead.

In the 68th minute David Luiz bent a free kick into the net for a 2-0 lead and Brazil seemed ready to coast into the semi finals until  Fredy Guarin pulled James Rodriguez down in the box and the Columbian scored on the penalty kick in the 78th minute.

The final moments of the game featured a frenzied Colombian attack that included a knee to Neymar's back causing the Brazilian star to be carted off the field.

His status for Tuesday's game against Germany is not known.

The Germans also got a quick start in their game against France.  In the 13th minute Toni Kroos placed a free kick in the right place for Mats Hummel.  His header banged off the cross bar into the net for the games only goal.
