Sports

POSTED: Monday, June 7, 2010 - 4:57pm

UPDATED: Monday, June 7, 2010 - 6:43pm

UTEP forward Jeremy Williams is back from China and says he is happy with the basketball and cultural experience.

He scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds as the "Reach USA" team concluded its nine-game foreign tour with a 70-69 win over the Russian Peak All-Stars on Thursday in Jingmen, China.

"Reach USA," a squad composed of 11 NCAA Division I players, played nine games in China and posted a 6-3 record. "Reach USA" defeated the Bayi Rockets, a team from the Chinese Basketball Association, four games to three and went 2-0 versus the Russian Peak All-Stars. The Russian team was on an eight-game tour and featured 12 all-stars from its own pro leagues.

Williams, who will be a senior for the 2010-11 season, averaged 8.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks on the trip. He made 31-of-65 field goal attempts (.477) and 6-of-8 free throws (.750).
