The top 28 college golfers in the nation have gathered at El Paso Country Club for the Western Refining College All America Golf Classic. Play begins with 36 holes on Monday with a final 18 on Tuesday.
San Diego's Alex Ching is back to defend his title and Hunter Hamrick, the 2009 Champion, is also competing. The number one ranked college golfer in the country, Jordan Spieth of Texas, is getting his first taste of the All American competition.
"So far everything is great," said Spieth. The weather is great, the course looks wonderful. I'm looking forward to it."
Spieth made it to the quarter finals of the U.S. Amateur and was in contention at the PGA Tour's HP Byron Nelson Championship as well.
He'll try to join a long list of Sun Bowl Champions that include Tiger Woods, Webb Simpson, David Duval and Davis Love III.
Arkansas won the skills competition on Sunday. Austin Cook took first in the putting contest while a 342 yard drive from fellow Razorback, Sebastian Cappelen, was good for first place in the long drive.
The 54 hole stroke play event begins at 8:00 Monday at El Paso Country Club. Admission is free.
