UTEP softball’s Chelsea Troupe has been selected to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region First Team as voted by the organization’s coaches.
The junior set three school records during the 2011 campaign including a season-best 14 home runs ranking 31st amongst NCAA Division I hitters. She registered a new slugging percentage standard of .885 that ranked 10th nationally and was perfect with 11 stolen bases setting a UTEP all-time career stolen bases attempts.
She finished the regular season ranked 15th nationally in home runs per game (.35), 21st in on-base percentage (.543), 43rd in walks (.68), 52nd runs per game (.93) and 69th in batting average (.404). The Oceanside, Calif., native was the team’s leader in hitting average, runs (37), home runs, RBI (31), slugging percentage, walks (27), on-base percentage, stolen bases and fielding percentage (.984).
Troupe missed the final stretch of the Conference USA schedule due to injury. Prior to injury, however, she was the league’s top hitter leading the league in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored, RBIs, home runs, total bases and walks.
The honor is the second of Troupe’s career, she received first team all-region accolades as a freshman in 2009.
