The Rice Owls are 1-4 this season, but have played a tough schedule against Texas, Baylor, Northwestern and SMU.  UTEP is 4-1 ths season, and really were favored in every game but the Houston game, their lone loss.  Several in-state high school prospects signed to big division one schools, but have transferred in to play at Rice, and are playing well.  Quarterback Nick Fanuzzi is from San Antonio, and transferred to Rice from Alabama, while Eagle Lake, Texas native QB Taylor Cook (Miami) and RB Sam McGuffie is of Cypress, and originally committed to Michigan.

"Two of their best players are transfers. Their quarterback transferred from Alabama, and their running back transferred from Michigan. Both Texas kids, we knew about them obviously, everbody knew about them, everybody tried to recruit both of those guys," said UTEP Head Coach Mike Price.

UTEP will host Rice, 7:00pm Saturday in the Sun Bowl.
