UTEP (7-4, 2-0 C-USA) will play at Louisiana Tech (5-7, 0-1 C-USA) in its first of nine Conference USA road games this year at 5:30 p.m. MST Thursday. The Miners then wrap up the week at Southern Miss (8-4, 1-0 C-USA) at 3 p.m. MST Saturday.
UTEP head women’s basketball coach Keitha Adams underwent emergency oral surgery on Jan. 6, and will not be on the sidelines for the Miners’ road contests at Louisiana Tech (5:30 p.m. MST, Thursday) and Southern Miss (3 p.m.
Junior Irene Gari registered her first career double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds), and the UTEP women’s basketball team held on for a hard-fought 54-51 win against Rice at the Don Haskins Center Sunday afternoon.
Sparkle Taylor (17 points) and Cameasha Turner (13 points) helped the UTEP women’s basketball team rally past North Texas, 60-58, in the Conference USA opener for both squads at the Don Haskins Center Friday evening.
UTEP (5-4) will tip off its 18-game Conference USA slate by playing host to North Texas (1-10) at 7 p.m. MST Friday. It marks the first time since 2010-11 that the Miners are opening up league play at home.
For the third time in four years, the UTEP basketball team will tip-off the Conference USA schedule away from home when it plays at North Texas on Friday at 6 p.m. MT.
The game will be televised on the American Sports Network.
The UTEP Miners defeated Sul Ross State 84-72 Tuesday night at the Haskins Center, but it was a good thing this was an exhibition. The Miners have a lot of kinks to work on before Conference USA play begins Friday at North Texas.
