WR Jordan Leslie leaving UTEP

WR Jordan Leslie leaving UTEP

Sunday, February 2, 2014 - 11:15pm

UTEP football got some bad news Sunday as the found out they will lose their top returning wide receiver.

Senior Jordan Leslie announced via Instagram that he has decided to leave the program and will transfer.

Leslie said "I owe so much to UTEP and I've enjoyed my four years here. In my time here I have met some amazing people and players that I know will be in my life forever. It's sad to say that I will be transferring, but I wanna thank all of UTEP and it's fans. I appreciate everything UTEP has done for me but sometimes you have to make tough decisions that you think will be best for u. Proverbs19:21 "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." I will always be a #Miner at heart. #ThankYou"

Jordan set a career high in touchdowns with 7 last season and caught 125 passes for 2,015 yards in his career. The 10th Miner in history to pass 2000 yards. Jordan plans to graduate from UTEP in May and has not announced where he will be transferring.

It is obviously a tough blow for UTEP football who finished with 2 wins last season.

Head Coach Sean Kugler released a statement about the transfer stating, "I wish him the best."

Perhaps we will find out who the next big-time UTEP receiver will be on Wednesday when the Miners expect to sign 18 new recruits on National Signing Day.
