UTEP's Rotich named Conference USA athlete of the week
EL Paso, TX — Sophomore Anthony Rotich garnered the Conference USA Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week Honor on Tuesday.
The All-American claimed his first meet title of the season at the Lobos Invitational, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The distance runner out ran his opponents by more than 20 seconds taking first place. Rotich won the 5k in a blazing time of 14:39.20 as the Miners crossed the finish line one, two, and four.
This is the sophomore’s first C-USA Athlete Honor of the season and his fourth career honor.
The men’s and women’s cross country team will be preparing for yet another race. The Miners will be gearing up to host the Lori Fitzgerald Meet on Friday at the Chamizal National Memorial Park.
