UPDATED: Tuesday, December 17, 2013 - 9:28pm

The UTEP women's basketball team is 9-0, and their season has led up to this, the hardest and most important tournament of the pre-conference season... the Puerto Rico Classic.

The Miners will head to tropical San Juan, Puerto Rico, to complete in the Puerto Rico Classic this week. UTEP will lock up with ACC power Georgia Tech at 3 p.m. MST Friday before battling Belmont at 12:30 p.m. MST Saturday.

UTEP is 9-0, while Georgia Tech is 6-2.  Both are in the "receiving votes" categories in both major polls.

Guard Stacie Telles said of the tournament, "It's very exciting, I have never done anything like this, go to Puerto Rico or anywhere like that, and then we're going to play some big teams out there, so it's really exciting." Forward Kristine Vitola added, "We're excited to go, we just need to be ready to play, we have some good teams coming up to us, and I think it's going to be a good challenge for us."
