UTEP Soccer Remains Unbeaten In Spring Exhibition Season

UTEP Soccer Remains Unbeaten In Spring Exhibition Season
KTSM
UTEP
Sunday, April 6, 2014 - 10:44pm

Angela Cutaia posted her second goal of the exhibition spring season to help UTEP secure a 1-1 tie at New Mexico Sunday afternoon.

The Miners move to 2-0-1 in the exhibition contests, having previously derailed Arizona, 3-1, on April 5 while knocking off another Pacific-12 school, Arizona State, 1-0, on March 29.

Cutaia, a rising junior, provided the lone strike in the conquest of the Sun Devils while three rising sophomores (Brianna Barreiro, Alexis Roberts and Brianna Thomas) found the back of the net in the victory against the Wildcats.

While it is nice to be unbeaten through three spring matches, the more exciting development has been the play of the younger players on the squad. Those improvements will certainly pay dividends come August.

UTEP will return to the pitch at picturesque University Field against Eastern New Mexico (1 p.m., April 12). It will wrap up its official spring slate against New Mexico Highlands at 1 p.m. on April 13 while the alumni game is slated for 1 p.m. on April 26.

There is free admission for each of those contests.

The Miners, who finished 12-6-3 in 2013, will return more than 15 letterwinners for the fall season. Another quality recruiting class should also provide a boost.
