UTEP senior named All-South Region
El Paso, TX — Colleen Hohman was named All-South Region third team as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday. This is the first all-region honor for the senior standout.
Hohman was named to the team at the utility/pitcher position.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2014 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
The native of Naperville, Ill. wrapped up her final season with the Miners with career highs in batting average (.333), home runs (11), RBI (28), runs scored (16), slugging percentage (.684) and doubles (eight). Hohman’s home run total and slugging percentage led the team during the 2014 campaign.
In the circle, Hohman finished the season with six wins and 17-career wins (ranked tied fourth all time in program history).
Her efforts on the rubber and at the dish surged the Miners during sweeps over La Tech and Middle Tennessee in 2014. UTEP’s sweep at La Tech was the first-ever road sweep of a conference foe in program history. Hohman won two of the three games against the Lady Techsters, while hitting a home run on a 3-for-4 andthree RBI performance during game two of the series. In the victories over the Blue Raiders, the Miners’ first home sweep of a conference opponent since the 2010 season, Hohman won two games and saved another, while cranking out twotwo-run home runs during the second inning of the second game.
This is the second honor Hohman received this month. She was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team on May 8.
