UTEP senior earns academic all-district accolades
El paso, TX — UTEP senior Tori Martyn has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District® 7 second team, as recently announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
“We are very proud of Tori achieving this prestigious award,” UTEP head coach Kevin Cross said. “Tori has incredible character, which is evidenced by her achieving great success in the classroom and on the playing field.”
It marks the first time that Martyn, who sports a 4.0 cumulative GPA in kinesiology, has been selected to the squad. She has previously landed on the Conference USA women’s soccer all-academic team (2011 & 2012) while earning a C-USA academic medal all three years of her career.
Martyn has started 77 of 79 games played in her career, contributing nine goals & 10 assists overall. This year she has been a standout in the defense and midfield, helping the Miners maintain possession and control play in the center portion of the pitch.
She has scored three goals, including two on headers, and is considered by the coaching staff as one of the best players in program history in the air.
