UTEP runner finishes 19th at NCAA Championships
El Paso, TX — UTEP’s Anthony Rotich finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Despite temperatures in the mid 30’s, Rotich began the 10K strong has he paced into seventh place out of 253 runners.
However, a slippery trail from overnight rain proved to be a challenge for Rotich as he slipped at about the 8K mark.
Relentless, the All-American got right back up and pushed to regain his position.
Ultimately, Rotich finished in 19th place as he crossed the finish line with a time of 30:27.3.
Last year, the sophomore was the first freshman to cross the finish line with a time of 29:13.5 in the 10K race. The All-American took fourth place at the NCAA meet and finished ahead of 241 runners.
