UTEP men's golf tied for 12th in San Antonio
El Paso, TX — The UTEP men's golf team tied for 12th place at the UTSA-Oak Hills Invitational on Tuesday in San Antonio.
The Miners enjoyed their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting 300 for a 54-hole total of 912 (306-306-300).
Oklahoma, ranked 13th in the nation, was champion of the 15-team event (294-285-297-876).
The Miners' Martin Simonsen finished in eighth place with a five-over-par 218 (70-76-72). Roberto Ruiz tied for 33rd place (76-74-77-227), Jacob Loya tied for 44th place (83-74-74-231), Jere Pelletier tied for 76th place (79-82-77-238) and Jose Manuel Romero finished 79th (81-83-77-241).
UTEP's Frederik Dreier, competing as an individual, landed in 84th place (84-85-85-254).
The Miners will travel to Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii for the John Burns Intercollegiate Feb. 19-21.
