UTEP Freshman receives 2013 College Football News Honorable Mention
El Paso, TX — UTEP running back Aaron Jones earned an honorable mention on the 2013 College Football News All-Freshman Team.
The recognition is the second for the El Paso native, as he was named to the 2013 Conference USA All-Freshman team earlier in the week.
The running back is ranked fifth among all FBS freshmen with 811 rushing yards despite only playing nine games for the Miners. Jones guided the Miners to rank 46th nationally and fourth in the league in rushing offense (184.7). In hisfirst season with the Orange and Blue, the freshman registered an 81-yard run against Rice (10/26), which is the longest by an FBS freshman this season and went on to compile a career-high 186 yards rushing in that matchup.
Jones concluded the 2013 season rating 42nd in the nation in rushing yards per game (90.1), and he is the top freshman rusher in C-USA. The product of Burges High School recorded three 100-yard performances and set UTEP's freshman rushingrecord.
Jones joins former Miners DB Quentin Demps (second team, 2004) and QB Trevor Vittatoe (honorable mention, 2007) to be recognized by College Football News freshman accolades.
