UTEP dropped a pair of games to Florida Atlantic, 7-0, in game one and, 2-0, in game two on Friday night at FAU Softball Stadium.

The Miners drop to 15-29 and 7-10 in Conference USA play. The Owls improve to 29-21 and 11-9.

Game one

Florida natives Erika Arcuri (Tampa Bay) and Danielle Pearson (Orlando) each connected on singles, but Owls’ ace Samantha Messer pitched a complete game, striking out five and walking zero.

Game two

Jordan Stovall hit a two-run first inning home run as the Owls took an early lead. The Miners threatened as Tahla Wade and Samantha Alvillar singled on back-to-back hits with no outs, but Kylee Hanson was able to get out of the jam forcing a foul fly, fly out and striking out the third hitter.

Miraya Montiel singled in the first for the Miners other hit.

UTEP and Florida Atlantic will play the final game of the series on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET/11 a.m. MT.
