KTSM
UTEP

POSTED: Tuesday, October 29, 2013 - 4:31pm

UPDATED: Tuesday, October 29, 2013 - 11:00pm

UTEP officials told Newschannel 9 today that starting Quarterback, Junior Jameill Showers, will be out 4-6 weeks with a separated shoulder.  Showers will not play this weekend at Texas A&M, the school where he spent his first three years, but will travel and serve as a team captain with the team.

Showers was not made available to the media for on camera interviews, but released this statement through UTEP media relations:

Statement on missing the Texas A&M game.
"Even though I'm out for this game, I'm still going to be on the sideline doing everything I can to help my teammates."

On transition from Texas A&M to UTEP.
"The transition from Texas A&M to UTEP has been a good one thanks to my teammates. They made it easier on me because they were welcoming and didn't have any hostility towards me when I first came to UTEP."
