Rotich claims Lori Fitzgerald title

Sophomore All-American Anthony Rotich claimed his second title of the 2013 season at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational after coming in at a time of 16:24 in the 5k at the Chamizal Memorial National Park Friday evening.

Freshman Boit Cosmas crossed the line at 16:55, securing his second silver finish with the Miners. Fellow teammate and sophomore Elphas Maiyo finished third with a clocking of 17:40.

The men’s team finished on top with 23 points defeating I-10 rival New Mexico State, El Paso Community College, and Navajo Tech.

On the women's side, senior Laura Delgado took eighth in the 4k finishing at 15:34. Returner Sandra Walker landed ninth overall at 15:43.

The team will be competing at the Kachina Classic on Friday, Sept. 27 in Las Cruces, N.M.
