The UTEP Miners swept Athlete of the Week honors following their performances at the Texas A&M Invitational on Feb. 7-8. Freshman distance athlete Cosmas Boit ran the lead leg on a strong distance medley relay and turned in one of the top mile performances in the conference. Sophomore triple jumper Nickevea Wilson won the triple jump with one of her strongest performances of the season.

Competing in his first distance medley relay, Boit ran the opening leg on the Miners’ squad that won the event at the Texas A&M Invitational with a time of 9:37.31, the third-fastest time in school history, eighth-best in the nation and tops in C-USA this season. Boit went on to win the mile at the same meet with a time of 4:04.39, the second-fastest mark in the conference this season. This is his first C-USA Athlete of the Week honor.

Wilson won the triple jump at the Texas A&M Invitational with a mark of 12.79m to easily outdistance 12 other jumpers in the competition. Wilson already holds the 10th best mark in the country and top conference effort this season at 12.89. Wilson’s winning mark this week gives her C-USA’s top two performances in the event in C-USA this season. This is Wilson’s first career C-USA Athlete of the Week honor.

This weekend the Miners will head back to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the Don Kirby T&F Elite Invitational before heading to Birmingham, Ala. for the C-USA Indoor Championships.
