UTEP Men's Basketball head coach Tim Floyd announced today that junior walk on guard Victor Mbachu is academically ineligible for the remainder of the season.  New Mexico State men's basketball preps for lowly Cal State Bakersfield, last place in the WAC, while the UTEP women focus on defense in practice... tune in!

The UTEP men (14-6, 4-1 C-USA) takes on Conference USA leader Louisiana Tech (17-4, 5-1 C-USA) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

Both teams have won nine of their last 10 games. UTEP is tied with Southern Miss for the longest active winning streak among league squads at four games.

UTEP is a half-game behind Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss, who are tied for first place in C-USA. Southern Miss is idle on Thursday.

UTEP is in pursuit of a fifth straight C-USA win, which would tie its second-longest string of victories since joining the league for the 2005-06 season.

UTEP is seeking its first five-game Conference USA win streak since January of 2006 when it toppled SMU, East Carolina, Tulane, Marshall and SMU (again) in succession.

UTEP is 4-1 in Conference USA play. The Miners have won at least four of their first five league games for the sixth time in nine years as a C-USA member (2005-06, 2006-07, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2012-13 and 2013-14). The Miners started 5-1 or better through six games in 2005-06 (5-1), 2009-10 (5-1) and 2010-11 (5-1).
