Thursday, September 26, 2013 - 10:45pm

The UTEP cross country teams will be traveling to Las Cruces, N.M. to participate in the Kachina Classic on Saturday at Centennial High School.

Leading the men’s team is All-American Anthony Rotich, who has back-to-back first place finishes. The sophomore has already received Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors this season for his tremendous finish at the Lobos Invitational where he clocked in with a time of 14:39.20 in the 5K. Head Coach Paul Ereng is excited for the upcoming races. “I have seen lots of improvement in our men’s squad raining,” he said.

Also competing for the Orange and Blue this weekend is freshman standout Cosmas Boit. The distance runner was the second Miner this season to earn C-USA Athlete of the week honors, running a season best of 16.55.5 in the 5k at the Lori Fitzgerald meet last week.

Also competing is El Paso native, Solomon Garcia.

Leading the women’s team is El Paso native Laura Delgado, who completed a top eight finish at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational. Debuting for the women’s team this week are Truphena Sum and Bethany Belmonte. Coach Ereng said, “The two have been training well and I expect their inclusion to improve the women’s performance this weekend.”
