Jackson Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
El Paso, TX — UTEP track and field’s Janice Jackson was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field women’s team as announced by Cosida on May 29th.
Earning first-team honors, Jackson is recognized for her combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Jackson will now advance to the national ballot, which will be voted on in June.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in multi-disciplinary studies, the All-American sports a 3.33 GPA in the history masters program at UTEP. The Jamaican native was previously named to the 2013 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and C-USA All-Academic Team.
The senior has also been a three-time member of C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. She served as one of two 2013-2014 SAAC Track Representatives.
In her final season in the Orange and Blue, Jackson garnered her second All-American honor with a fifth-place finish in the 60h (8.05) at the NCAA Indoor Championships, setting the school record. Earlier in the indoor season she claimed gold in the 60m hurdles (8.18) at the C-USA Indoor Championships and was a member of victorious 4x4 relay team (3:41.80).
Continuing her success into outdoor season, the hurdler delivered a gold-medal finish of 13.10, -0.7 in the 100m hurdles at the C-USA Outdoor Championships for a second consecutive year.
This weekend the C-USA Champion heads into the NCAA West Preliminary Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. to fight for a bid to the national championship.
She heads into the 100m hurdle prelims ranked sixth in the region with a time of 13.05 that was posted at the Texas Relays.
