UTEP
Wednesday, November 20, 2013 - 6:26pm

Senior Xitlali Herrera was named to the All-Conference USA squad announced by league officials on Tuesday.

Earning first team honors, Herrera became the first Miner in program history to earn the honor for three consecutive years. The middle blocker has led the Miners the entire season and accounts for 4.30 kills per set, second-best in the league and 23rd in the NCAA.

Herrera has registered 11 double-doubles this season for UTEP, including an impressive 19 kills and 15 digs versus NM State (11/12) where she led the squad’s defense and offense.

This season she became the 10th Miner to join the 1,000 kill club registering an outstanding 1,132 kills in only three years with UTEP. The senior also tied for the top spot in the UTEP recordbooks in kills in three sets as she hammered 24 kills against Oral Roberts (9/26). Herrera sits next to Catherine Porter (1999) in the category with 24 kills against Rice.
