Monday, August 18, 2014 - 3:52pm

UTEP Athletics and FirstLight Federal Credit Union have joined forces for this year’s rivalry series between the Miners and the NM State Aggies. FirstLight Federal Credit Union is the official sponsor for the “Battle of I-10” and will have its name attached to every sport pitting the two teams together in 2014-15.

It all starts with the UTEP-NMSU soccer game on Aug. 27 at University Field. Three and a half weeks later, the Miners and the Aggies will battle on the gridiron for the 92nd time.

This year’s UTEP-NMSU football game will be a “White Out” and all fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. Fans can receive their FREE White Out or Battle of I-10 t-shirt by opening a checking account at any FirstLight Federal Credit Union location in El Paso, starting Aug. 22nd.

Karl Murphy, President and CEO of FirstLight Federal Credit Union, takes pride in leading an organization that puts its members and the community first. “FirstLight Federal Credit Union constantly gives back to the El Paso, Fort Bliss and Las Cruces communities in many ways,” said Karl Murphy. “This year, we are extremely excited to partner with UTEP in support of their students, faculty and staff.”

FirstLight Federal Credit Union is a community financial cooperative dedicated to helping you and your families achieve financial security by providing accessible products, services, tools and education. FirstLight gives back to the El Paso, Fort Bliss and Las Cruces communities by sponsoring UTEP and many other local and non-profit organizations. FirstLight Federal Credit Union also offers youth accounts and financial literacy classes to allow individuals to have the knowledge to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources. FirstLight has nine locations to serve the El Paso, Las Cruces and Fort Bliss area along with mobile and online banking.
