The UTEP women's golf team notched a third-place finish at the Bob Hurley Auto ORU Shootout on Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla.

The Miners shot 927 as a team with rounds of 311, 308 and 308 respectively. Redlands Community College was champion of the 14-team tournament (305-312-304-921), with Arkansas State second (316-296-311-923).

UTEP's top finisher was senior Shang-Fan Huang, who was part of a four-way tie for second place. Huang carded an 11-over-par 224 (75-74-75) to finish a stroke back of individual champion Jessica Schiele of Oklahoma City University (78-72-73-223).

The Miners' Teresa Nogues tied for ninth place (75-76-78-229), Camino Sardinero tied for 23rd place (83-79-75-237), Emma Edin tied for 31st place (78-81-80-239) and Emma Burman finished 61st (89-79-86-254).

UTEP will return to action at the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Invitational Monday through Wednesday in Las Cruces.
 

Meanwhile, the UTEP men's golf team finished 14th at the Wolf Pack Classic on Tuesday at Lake Tahoe, Nev.

The Miners did enjoy their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing 303 to finish with a 54-hole total of 945. San Jose State won the 14-team event, shooting 881.

Luke Ovenden shot a nine-over-par 225 (77-77-71) to tie for 24th place and lead UTEP. David Persons tied for 64th place (82-79-73-234), Devin Miertschin tied for 74th place (80-83-77-240), Jerry Castrellon finished 80th (81-84-82-247) and Ryan Fioretti finished 81st (84-83-83-250).

UTEP's next tournament will be the Lone Star Invitational Oct. 16-18 in San Antonio.
