The UTEP track & Field teams will be competing in the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays starting on Wednesday in Austin, Texas.

Senior Marine Menez will kick off the competition for the Miners with the heptathlon at 11:30 a.m. (CT). Menez will be participating in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m dash on Wednesday. The long jump, javelin and 800m are schedule for Thursday starting at 12 p.m. (CT). The Lesquin, France native recorded a personal-best of 5005 points in the heptathlon at the 2011 Conference USA Outdoor Championships.

On Thursday, El Paso native Jallycia Pearson and junior Samantha Sharper will be taking the track at 4:30 p.m. (CT) in the women’s 400m hurdles. This is the first time that Pearson and Sharper will be representing UTEP at Texas Relays.

Richard Olsson will be participating in the men’s javelin throw at 3:30 p.m. (CT). The sophomore is ranked ninth in the nation after opening the season with a personal-best of 71.58m.

Freshman Demetris Elias will be competing in the hammer throw also set to begin at 3:30 p.m. (CT). Elias posted a mark of 58.21m taking gold at the 2012 UTEP Springtime meet.

Laura Macauley goes into the meet ranked 14th in the nation with a mark of 48.77m registered at the UTEP Springtime.

After the field events the distance teams will take the track starting with Juan Blanco in the men’s 1,500m at 7:40 p.m. (CT).
Anthony Rotich and Elkana Rotich will follow in the 3,000m Steeplechase.

Sisters Kathya and Karina Garcia will be participating in the women’s 5,000m set to start at 9 p.m. (CT). Solomon Gardea and Justice Chirchir will be concluding the day with the men’s 5,000m at 9:30 p.m. (CT).

On Friday, it will be the women’s 4x100m relay kicking off the action for the Miners. Following will be the men’s 4x100m relay with Kristian Dillard, Kyron Joseph, Abiola Onakoya and Anthony Wright.

Janice Jackson and Sharper will take part of the women’s 100m hurdles Friday morning. Jackson ranks 25th in the nation with a time of 13.74 posted in the Miners season opener.

All-American Endurance Abinuwa will represent UTEP in the women’s 100m dash. The senior ranks 21st in the nation
clocking in a time of 11.65 at the UTEP Springtime.

The UTEP track & field teams will wrap up the morning session with the 4x400m relays.

The Miners will close out competition on Saturday with the men’s 4x200m relay (Dillard, Joseph, A-Shawni Mitchell and Shane Hamm) at 12:35 p.m. (CT).
