UTEP recruit not cleared by NCAA Clearinghouse
El Paso, TX — Andre Spight, a member of the heralded 2012 recruiting class, will not play this season at UTEP for head coach Tim Floyd. Spight, a 6-3, 185 pound guard from Pasadena, California, was not cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse, and will not be eligible to play at UTEP in 2013. Tim Floyd is currently on the road recruiting to fill that roster spot.
Newschannel 9 has confirmed this through UTEP officials. Spight will likely transfer to a Junior College and could return to UTEP in the future. Spight was rated a three-star recruit, the no. 18 player in the state of California and the no. 46 shooting guard in the country by 247sports.com, and averaged 22 points, six rebounds and three steals during the 2011-12 season.
Heralded recruit Isaac Hamilton was attending to a death in the family on the West coast, and will enroll at UTEP this summer when classes begin in August.
