 UTEP men’s 4x100m relay will open competition at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships when they take the track at Drake Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Suji Adeniyan, Anderson Mutegi, Leon Dillihunt and Anthony Wright will make their bid to advance to the final round of the 400-meter relay at 4:45 p.m. (MT). The foursome advanced out of the west region following illegal exchanges charged to three different qualifying teams moving up with one of the next best three times of 40.34. The Miners’ best time this season was 39.76 recorded at the UTEP Invitational.

Richard Olsson makes his debut at the national meet in the men’s javelin at 2:05 p.m. (MT). Olsson qualified out of the preliminary rounds with a mark of 68.90m (226-00). The freshman’s season-best throw of 69.26m (227-03) set at the UTEP Invitational back in El Paso.

All-American Dimitrios Fylladitakis will close out his collegiate career when he steps on the hammer throw circle on Thursday afternoon (2 p.m. CT) for the final two rounds of the NCAA Championships. His season-best was a distance of 67.97m (223-00) at the UTEP Springtime. The three-time Conference USA champion finished sixth at last year’s NCAA championships with a toss of 66.77m (219-00).

The men’s 4x400m relay will compete in the semifinal round on Thursday night at 8:20 (MT). Adeniyan, Mutegi, Dillihunt and Curtis Kock advanced out of the west region with a time of 3:08.17, the second best following automatic qualifying finishes. The Miners return to the site of their season-best performance of 3:07.80 clocked in during the Drake Relay on April 27.
