UTEP Quarterbacks Relish Opportunity to Get Real Playing Time

Sports

POSTED: Sunday, April 10, 2011 - 5:49pm

UPDATED: Sunday, April 10, 2011 - 6:12pm

All Four UTEP Quarterbacks, Nick Lamaison, Tate Smith, Carson Meger and Javia Hall saw extensive playing time in yesterday's first spring scrimmage.  Lamaison had the best statistics with 137 yards on 9-11 passing.  Javia Hall impressed the UTEP Coach, Meger showed his athleticim, and Smith showed an eagerness to teach as a veteran of the offense.

UTEP Head Coach Mike Price said, "I thought they all did pretty good. It's the first time they have had any live bullets at them too."   Junior College transfers Nick Lamaison "I mean there are a lot of spots that are wide open, so everyone is competing. It's a great opportunity to get a lot of reps for depth, and to just see who are going to be the guys."

Freshman receiver Jordan Leslie added, "All the quarterbacks are doing really good, the reads were really good, so it's going to be a fight for competition."
