UTEP Men's Golf Team Finishes With 10th-Place Showing

The UTEP men's golf team concluded play at The Farms Invitational on Tuesday in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. The Miners shot 309 over the final 18 holes for a two-day total of 930 and a 10th-place finish.

San Diego State won the 14-team event (292-286-284-862).

For the third straight tournament, freshman Martin Simonsen was the Miners' top finisher. The Gistrup, Denmark native carded a two-over-par 218 (69-74-75) to tie for sixth place.

Rounding out the scoring for UTEP was Luke Ovenden (tied for 36th place, 78-79-77-234), Devin Miertschin (tied for 63rd place, 97-74-76-247), Jerry Castrellon (tied for 69th place, 80-87-81-248) and Ross Rotwein (tied for 74th place, 80-88-84-252).

The Miners' next competition will be the National Invitation Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.
