UTEP Men's Golf Moves up 1 Spot at C-USA Championships

The UTEP men's golf team rose from ninth place to eighth on day two of the Conference Championship on Monday in Texarkana, Texas.

The Miners have a 36-hole total of 596 with rounds of 297 and 299, respectively.

Memphis is in first place (282-289-571), with UCF second (290-284-574), East Carolina third (295-287-582), UAB fourth (292-291-583), SMU fifth (284-300-584), Houston sixth (292-296-588), Marshall seventh (286-309-595), UTEP eighth, Tulsa ninth (301-296-597), Southern Miss 10th (296-303-599) and Rice 11th (309-296-605).

UTEP freshman Martin Simonsen is in the hunt for the individual title with the final round scheduled to be played on Tuesday. Simonsen's five-under-par 139 (72-67) puts him just one stroke back of the leaders, UCF's Greg Eason (70-68-138) and Houston's Roman Robledo (70-68-138).

The Miners' Jere Pelletier is tied for 22nd place (73-75-148), while Jerry Castrellon (76-80-156) & Ross Rotwein (79-77-156) are tied for 47th place. Luke Ovenden is tied for 51st place (76-83-159).
